Clinical Training & Interests

Dr. Lack is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Arkansas (07-37P). His primary clinical interest is in the application of evidence-based cognitive and behavioral methods to the treatment of severe anxiety disorders across the life span, such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or phobias, and Tourette's Disorder or chronic tics. In addition, Dr. Lack is also interested in the assessment of psychological, learning, and developmental difficulties in children and adults. Clinical Supervisor, University of Central Oklahoma (August 2009 to present)

  • I currently supervise internal practicum students performing intakes, individual, and group therapy in an on-campus psychological clinic.

Director, River Valley Psychological Services, Russellville, AR (January 2008 to June 2009)

  • I was the clinical director and co-owner of RVPS, an independent clinic and training facility for graduate students in the Master’s program at Arkansas Tech. In addition to administrative duties and private practice, I also supervised graduate students who were learning how to perform therapy and psychological evaluations.

PASSR Consultant, Bock Associates, Little Rock, AR (January 2008 to June 2009)

  • I conducted pre-placement evaluations of persons with a history of developmental and/or psychiatric disorders, including a social history, intelligence testing, and adaptive behavior assessments, to assist in placing people in long-term nursing or rehabilitation facilities.

Disability Examiner, Social Security Disability, Little Rock, AR (December 2008 to June 2009)

  • I performed evaluations of mental status, level of adaptive functioning, and intelligence to assist in determining if someone qualifies as “disabled” according to established governmental criteria.

Child/Pediatric Psychology Intern, Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, University of Florida (July 2005 to June 2006)

  • This full-time APA accredited internship operates through the University of Florida’s Department of Clinical and Health Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to seeing individual clients for problems including OCD, Tourette's Syndrome, GAD, behavioral difficulties, and PTSD, I worked on a number of different rotations. This included a diabetes clinic (focusing on behavioral management of diabetic symptoms), a lipid clinic (focusing on behavioral management and treatment for childhood obesity), child psychology assessment (focusing on developmental and attentional difficulties), pediatric assessment (focusing on transplant and post-operative assessments), inpatient pediatric consultation, pediatric neuropsychology assessment, and pre-transplant evaluations (focusing on bone marrow, stem cell, lung, heart, and liver transplants, as well as pre-surgical evaluations for gastric bypass candidates) In addition, I did peer supervision, both for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program and the School Psychology doctoral program.

Psychological Associate, Psychological Services Center, Oklahoma State University (August 2001 to May 2005)

  • I conducted psychotherapy on a clients ages 8 to 53, with problems ranging from anxiety, depression, and chronic pain to ADHD and other behavior problems. I was also a co-therapist for two groups designed to improve children’s social skills, one with 4-year-olds and one with 8- to 10-year olds. In addition, I performed psychological assessments on children and young adults for a variety of reasons, including intelligence testing, ADHD and LD evaluations, and diagnostic testing for disorders such as Asperger’s Disorder and schizophrenia. Finally, during my third and fourth years, I provided peer supervision to beginning graduate students, primarily for assessments.

Neuropsychology Practicum Student, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, OU Health Sciences Center (August 2003 to May 2004)

  • I performed neuropsychological testing on patients ranging from 5 to 89 years old. Assessments were conducted for numerous reasons, including dementia, organ transplant evaluation, Parkinson’s disease, leukemia, and pre- and post-operative assessment of functioning. My duties included assessment, report-writing, and training of new hires.

  • I conducted couples therapy with dating, engaged, and married couples. In the MFC, I worked under a live-supervision model, in which my peers and supervisor observed sessions, with feedback incorporated immediately into session. In addition, I provided peer supervision to other graduate students using the same model.
